Chiropractic Care
What to expect from your first visit E-mail

Image   Your first appointment will begin filling out any necessary paperwork , and giving us any relevant documents (insurance cards, work comp. claims, accident reports), or diagnostic tests (x-rays, MRIs).

Dr. Sikorsky D.C. will then begin his examination which will consist of orthopeadic, nuerologic, and chiropractic tests. If it is determined to be medically necessary, the Dr. will take x-rays. Since x-rays will help rule out serious conditions, or alert us to a potential problem, the Dr. will usually take time to read the x-rays which can take until the next day.

Information on Adjustments & Types E-mail

Image   The primary course of care will be specific chiropractic adjustments. This will help return individual spinal bones to their proper motion and position. There are hundreds of ways of using carefully directed and controlled pressure to restore better position and motion to "stuck" or fixated spinal joints. This may require a quick thrust, or in other instances a slow, constant pressure. Sometimes, only one area of the spine is adjusted, and other times the entire spine will receive attention.

Some adjusting approaches can result in a faint "popping" sound. This sound is created by the shifting of gas and fluids in the joint. The presence or "loudness" of this sound has little meaning and varies with each patient.
Sometimes doctors use only their hands, while others will use special tables or instruments. Sometimes, the patient's own body weight is used. Every doctor has a preference based on training, clinical experience, and the particular spinal problem of the patient.
