What to expect from your first visit E-mail

Image   Your first appointment will begin filling out any necessary paperwork , and giving us any relevant documents (insurance cards, work comp. claims, accident reports), or diagnostic tests (x-rays, MRIs).

Dr. Sikorsky D.C. will then begin his examination which will consist of orthopeadic, nuerologic, and chiropractic tests. If it is determined to be medically necessary, the Dr. will take x-rays. Since x-rays will help rule out serious conditions, or alert us to a potential problem, the Dr. will usually take time to read the x-rays which can take until the next day.

We will also begin to explain what chiropractic is and why it may be the answer for you. For starters; Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that your nervous system controls the function of every cell, tissue, organ, and system of your body. Your nervous system consists of your brain, spinal cord, and millions of nerves. Your brain is protected by the skull, and your spinal cord is protected by the 24 moving bones of the spine. Many everyday activities can cause these spinal bones to lose their normal position or motion. This can result in nervous system dysfunction and ultimately, ill health. This condition is called Vetebral Subluxation Complex.

The Chiropractic approach to better health is to detect, reduce, and help prevent nervous system dysfunction, by eliminating the Vetebral Subluxation Complex. Many people refer to chiropractors as "Bone Doctors", and although chiropractors do move bones back to their normal position, a better description would be "Nerve Doctors", since the focus is on relieving the stress placed on the nerves by the spinal bones.
